Are you looking for a little more guidance with your workout?  Need new ideas for your workout or just a little motivation and accountability?  Signing up for Personal Training may be the answer for you!  Choose from a single session with a trainer or purchase a package of 4, 8 or 12 sessions.

Single session-The single session will allow you the opportunity to meet with a trainer to discuss your goals, take measurements and set up a basic workout/exercise routine you may implement on your own.

Packages of 4,8 or 12 sessions-Commit to your trainer by purchasing a package.  Based on your goals, your trainer will monitor your progress using body weight, body fat percentage, weight load, cardiovascular endurance, etc.

Small Group Training-Working out is always more fun with friends!  Anywhere from 2 to 4 participants may purchase a package together to enjoy the same benefits as personal training on your own.  Price of sessions will depend on the # of participants registered.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Q-How do I get connected with a trainer?

Stop by our Welcome Desk for a Personal Training Interest Packet.  In most situations you will hear back within 48 hours of returning the packet to the Mattoon Y.

Q-Can I sign up directly with a Personal Trainer when I see one working in the Fitness Center?

No.  Please stop by the desk and fill out the interest packet.  If there is a trainer that you are interested in working with, please indicate so on the packet.

Q-How long is each session?

Sessions can run from 45 minutes to an hour and a half but generally lasts one hour and is based on your fitness level/ability/ needs.

Q-Is Personal Training just for those interested in lifting weights?

No.  Each Personal Training program will be based on your wants, needs, goals.

Q-What are the times Personal Training is offered?

Personal Training session times are based on your availability and the Trainer’s availability.

 

Meet the Trainers

 

Emily Hayden           Emily Hayden

Emily is the Wellness Coordinator for the Mattoon Area Family YMCA.  She is a NSCA Certified Personal Trainer.  Emily is passionate about group fitness and is certified to teach following group fitness formats:    Certified Keiser Cyling Instructor, Certified TRX Instructor and a R.I.P.P.E.D. Instructor.  As the Wellness Coordinator, Emily will review your personal training needs to help you select the trainer that will help you be successful.

Cindy began her fitness career in 1981 with the first aerobics class at the Mattoon Y called ‘Rockin’ Aerobics’.  She has since taught various classes to include weight lifting, stretching, pre-natal classes, weight management, cycling and cardio classes.  Cindy is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Keiser Cycling Instructor, Certified BodyPump Instructor, and a Certified TRX Instructor.  She also has a Mind Body Specialty Certification through ACE.  She has worked with all ages and all fitness levels.  Cindy will work with clients to make them feel comfortable and help provide a program that will help them achieve their goals.

Taylor is a Certified Personal Trainer through the International Sports and Science Association.  As a personal trainer he has worked with a diverse group of clientele and designs various routines specific to each individual client.  He believes that anyone can improve his or her fitness level to improve quality of life, no matter his or her physical condition.  He enjoys making workouts interesting and challenging so his clients are having fun while staying interested and focused.

Samantha is a Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor through the American Council on Exercise (ACE).  She graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and a minor in community health.  She currently teaches Forever Fit and Long & Lean classes at our Y.  Samantha enjoys working with those who wish to lose weight, increase muscular endurance, improve flexibility or build core strength.

                           Cory Scharwarth

Cory is an ACE certified personal trainer who earned his Exercise Science Clinical Master’s degree from Eastern Illinois University in 2017.  He also received his bachelor’s degree from EIU in Exercise Science in the spring of 2016.  Cory has gained experience in the field through internships at Sarah Bush both in the METS department for cardiac rehab and at the Center for Healthy Living as an Exercise Specialist.  He also has experience doing fitness assessments and engaging with members of the Adult Fitness Program at EIU.  Cory enjoys helping his clients reach their fitness goals whether it’s recovering from a surgery, increasing strength or improving cardiovascular endurance.

Jenny is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She has been a member of the Illinois Army National Guard since December 2008 and uses this experience to help her clients. Jenny encourages her clients to reach their health and fitness goals through education and motivation. Because of her coaching experience, she provides her clients with the perfect balance of accomplishment and ambition. Her knowledge in the fitness industry allows her to tailor programs to fit anyone from novice to exercise enthusiast, especially in the small group personal training setting.

 

                            Tyler Davis

 

Tyler is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He received his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Eastern Illinois University in the spring of 2016. He enjoys helping clients acquire short term and long term goals, including improving cardiovascular endurance, increasing muscular strength and preparing for a sport. As a trainer, Tyler provides clients with the knowledge to improve exercise technique and gain confidence in their physical abilities.
