WELCOME TO THE Y!

At the YMCA, we are focused on providing opportunities for healthy living. If you want to add some variety and challenge to your fitness routine, or if you’re just starting on your health journey, group fitness at the Y is for you! Group fitness classes help you achieve your health and fitness goals while you make friends and have FUN!

Walking into a new group fitness class can be intimidating, but the Y team is here for you! Our instructors will help you make modifications that will prevent injury while you’re on your fitness journey. We strive to bring our members the most highly sought after group fitness opportunities, so schedules are traditionally updated quarterly. If you can’t make it to class, the Y360 is ALWAYS available! Members can enjoy live or pre-recorded classes anytime, anywhere, with their favorite instructors.

Weighted Walking Group

Every Wednesday at 4:30 PM | October – November
Mattoon YMCA & Neal Center YMCA

Lace up your sneakers and join us for Weighted Walk — a weekly walking group for all fitness levels! Bring your weighted vest, hand weights, or simply come as you are with no weights at all.

Each week we’ll meet in the lobby and head out together for up to a 45-minute walk around town. The focus is on:

  • Building endurance

  • Getting in steps

  • Enjoying conversation in the fresh air

Weighted vests are encouraged but not required — this group is all about moving, connecting, and staying motivated as the seasons change.

Children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Runs every Wednesday in October and November, weather permitting.
