A SAFE PLACE FOR YOUTH

At the Y, we are passionate about Youth Development! Young people are always welcome in our facilities. In order to keep them safe, we have the following guidelines:

Youth under age 8

  • Can use walking track under direct adult supervision

Youth ages 8-13

  • Must complete a consultation prior to using the wellness center and must be under adult supervision at all times

  • Youth ages 8-10

  • Can use walking track with adult supervision
  • After completing a consultation, youth 8-10 can receive a RED band which gives them access to cardio equipment only
  • Can attend group fitness classes with adult after receiving approval

Youth ages 11-13

  • Can use walking track with adult supervision
  • After completing a consultation, youth 11-13 can receive a BLUE band which gives them access to cardio and Selectorize equipment
  • Eligible to complete Youth Free Weight Training program. If member passes both written and practical tests after two-day program, they will receive the YELLOW band which indicates they can use free weights with adult supervision
  • Can attend group fitness classes with adult after receiving approval

Youth ages 14+

  • May use walking track, all Wellness Center equipment, and attend group fitness classes without adult supervision

GENERAL RULES & EXPECTATIONS

  • Wear appropriate clothing (shirt required, no profanity or depictions of illegal activity)
  • Use appropriate language- no profanity
  • Respect equipment- do not touch sound equipment or other property that is not yours
  • Respect YMCA staff in words and actions
  • Zero tolerance for bullying & intimidation- be kind to others!
  • No rough play, fighting, kissing, or other physical contact
  • Zero tolerance for dunking on basketball hoops or throwing things from the track
