A SAFE PLACE FOR YOUTH
Mattoon Area Family YMCA is proud to be working towards Praesidium Accreditation.
At the Y, we are passionate about Youth Development! Young people are always welcome in our facilities. In order to keep them safe, we have the following guidelines:
Youth under age 6
- Can use walking track under direct adult supervision
- Can use the pool with an adult in the water
- Can attend Child Watch with an adult in the facility
Youth ages 7-8

Must complete a consultation and receive wristband prior to using the wellness center (cardio only) and must be under adult supervision at all times
- Can use walking track with adult supervision
- Can use the pool and must be under adult supervision at all times
Youth ages 9-12
- Can use walking track with adult in the facility
- Must complete a consultation and receive wristband to gain access to cardio and Selectorize equipment while under adult supervision
- Eligible to complete Youth Free Weight Training program to will receive wristband which indicates they can use free weights with adult supervision
- Can attend group fitness classes with an adult
- Can use the pool with an adult in the facility
Youth ages 13-15
- Can use the facility with no adult supervision required
GENERAL RULES & EXPECTATIONS
- Wear appropriate clothing (top covering the chest, no profanity or depictions of illegal activity)
- Use appropriate language- no profanity
- Respect equipment- do not touch sound equipment or other property that is not yours
- Respect YMCA staff in words and actions
- Zero tolerance for bullying & intimidation- be kind to others!
- No rough play, fighting, kissing, or other physical contact
- Zero tolerance for dunking on basketball hoops or throwing things from the track
