At the Mattoon Area Family YMCA and Neal Center YMCA, our mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Working locally, we focus on empowering young people, improving health and well-being, and inspiring action in and across our community. By bringing together people from different backgrounds, perspectives and generations, we ensure that we all have access to the opportunities, relationships and resources necessary to learn, grow and thrive.

The Mattoon Area Family YMCA is committed to helping ALL people realize their fullest potential. We serve people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, and incomes. In order to make our services and programs available to all people, we provide scholarships through our Membership for All initiative. All Y members receive the same membership benefits regardless of whether or not they are receiving assistance. In 2025, we provided over $279,000 in scholarships to nearly 525 local families. All of the funds raised during May Merriment support Membership for All, ensuring that your friends and neighbors have access to opportunities for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
